HAMILTON - NORTH ISLAND
Hamilton is in the centre of New Zealand's fourth largest urban area, and is the country's seventh largest City. The City is strategically situated beside the Waikato River in the heart of the fertile Waikato plains, approximately 130 km south of Auckland in the North Island.
Hamilton is one of New Zealand's fastest growing cities with a population in excess of 130,000 and provides the perfect environment for work and leisure.
Accessibility is one of the prime factors that make Hamilton such a thriving city, desirable as a central business location. It is located close to two main seaports (Auckland and Tauranga), two international airports (Auckland and Hamilton), the railway network, and state highways.
There are more than 11,000 businesses located within Hamilton, head office to many national companies including Fonterra (the world’s largest dairy producer). There are several tertiary institutions in the City including the University of Waikato, Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec) and Te Wananga o Aotearoa.
The Waikato region is one of the richest agricultural and pastoral areas in the world, and is home to much of New Zealand's science and agricultural research facilities, providing up to date support for the country’s strongest primary industry.
Along with research, manufacturing and agricultural engineering are major industries in the City catering both for the local markets as well as export markets.
The Hamilton property market consists of quality office space, many large and small industrial buildings, a full range of retail facilities, bulky goods retail and a vibrant CBD sector. All this is supported by a local City Council who pride themselves on initiatives supporting growth, employment and entertainment opportunities, such as the V8 Supercars planned for Hamilton for the next eight years.
Hamilton is central to the Waikato region and many North Island attractions. These include the golden sand/surf beaches of the Bay of Plenty, trout fishing in the river and lakes around Lake Taupo, snow/skiing at Mt Ruapahu, the rugged west coastal fishing areas, and only a 1 ½ hours drive to the vibrant city of Auckland.
The region’s climate is mild, with summers ranging between 19 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius, and winters averaging 9 degrees Celsius.
