Christchurch, 22 September 2015 – The historic 69 Worcester Street building in Christchurch recently sold to local city councillor Jamie Gough, along with his sister Rachel Koopman-Gough, and father Tracy Gough.
The property, marketed by CBRE Christchurch’s Merv Davies, Paul Brown and Elliot Box for a private investor, sold for $2.3 million.
Brown says, “This is a fantastic result. Jamie Gough is passionate about the building’s restoration, so you can be sure 69 Worcester Street will become a shining example of Christchurch’s history restored to its full glory.
The two-storey 1920s heritage building, designed by renowned architect Cecil Wood, had earthquake strengthening work completed in 2007 to 69% of the New Building Standard. It is one of only a handful of historic brick buildings left in Christchurch. The Gough family initially plans to focus on the building’s interior ensuring it is as “special and boutique” as its exterior.
Davies says that “The planned renovations should see the building ready for tenants to move into their fresh, new character office space early next year.”
Box adds, “This is a prime office location, opposite the City Council, and within easy walking distance of cafes, restaurants and bars.
