Icon Co to build The Pacifica

The developer of The Pacifica, Hengyi Pacific, has appointed construction firm Icon Co Pty Limited as the ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) contractor for its 178 metre apartment tower planned for 10-12 Commerce Street.

The appointment of Icon Co comes just over three months after The Pacifica’s official launch, during which time 102 of the 282 apartments in the 57-storey tower have been sold, totaling more than $160 million in sales, from the development’s show suite at 152 Quay Street, level 9.

Icon Co, an award-winning Melbourne-based construction firm is in the process of establishing an office in Auckland and is headed up in New Zealand by Dan Ashby, former Executive General Manager of Hawkins Construction, and previously Managing Director of Multiplex Constructions in NZ.

The Pacifica will be Icon Co’s first ECI contract in New Zealand. Hengyi Pacific’s New Zealand General Manager Liz Scott says it comes on the back of the stellar reputation Icon Co has established over the last 20 years for its world-class apartment complexes in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.

“Icon Co has an amazing reputation for quality and reliability. They’re an extremely professional and capable outfit that have been proven to deliver large scale developments on time and on spec.

“They’ve helped to change the landscape of cities across the eastern seaboard of Australia in much the same way that The Pacifica will change the Auckland city skyline.”

Icon Co’s Director Evan Byrne says Hengyi’s own reputation was a major drawcard.

“Hengyi has a great track record in delivering large, high-profile projects to the market so we’re really excited to be working with them on this landmark development.

“We’re experts in residential developments at Icon Co so this project is a great way for us to showcase to the New Zealand market just what we’re capable of.
