Grant completes a wide range of investment valuations, insurance assessments, rental arbitrations, business valuations and financial reporting valuations on large portfolios. His specialisations also include the valuation of Māori land and the valuation of cultural assets, whakairo and taonga for insurance purposes. He has also served on a working party on Māori land and presented on the valuation of Māori land at the Property Institute of New Zealand conference. Grant has acted as an expert witness in a range of arbitrations, Family Court, District Court and High Court proceedings.
Since joining private practice Grant has focused predominantly urban property; including commercial and industrial properties with a special emphasis on motels, tourist accommodation, tourism and special-use properties. He has prepared valuations and acted as an advisor and expert witness for a wide range of local and national commercial entities, lending institutions, local and central government bodies, iwi organisations and publicly listed companies.
With dual qualifications in both urban and rural valuation, Grant’s valuation career dates to 1982 when he commenced full-time valuation work in Rotorua after graduating from Lincoln College. He joined Reid and Reynolds in 1987 which subsequently became TelferYoung Rotorua and more recently CBRE.
